Now that life has started to settle down, it’s time to get serious about learning to cook new things. This morning, I tackled what looked to be an incredibly easy recipe for Breakfast Quinoa (from one of my gluten free cookbooks: The Gluten-Free Bible).
Remembering last year’s birthday celebration: road tripping to Graceland with three of my favorite people in the world. We rented a car, drove through the night to Memphis, and soaked up the dated decadence that is The King. It’s hard to top a life-long dream – especially when it’s coupled with a surprise carnival in Mississippi where we discovered our new favorite band.
The bar has been set high for this year’s celebration. Festivities have been postponed until the end of the month when Jonathan and I will celebrate…in London!
So my actual birthday, yesterday, was spent doing the things I love to do.
(1.) Drinking Champagne
(Cue the Marina & the Diamonds song.)
I’m going to be honest with you: I wasn’t going to write a blog while abroad. Everyone asked before I left and I smiled and said “Oh yeah!” but in my mind I was thinking “Hellll* to the no!” whilst maniacally chuckling in my head.
Why did I lie? Well, I considered it a white lie. And look: turns out it wasn’t even that! (I’ll direct your attention to Exhibit A: My First Blog Post.)
I’ve now been living abroad for about a month and a half and just celebrated my 28th Name Day (I’ve also been reading a lot of A Game of Thrones…) and wondering just what in the world I’m going to do with my time.
Turns out I might become employed again (!) – thereby limiting my time in front of a computer (for leisure), and so: here I am. If you want to read along about my life here, you can sign up to get an email whenever I update the blog or you can add me to your RSS reader. (Pssst —> click on the links to the right to do that!)
Onward and upward.
*Sorry, elders and others of delicate temperament, I’m going to try and rein in my coarser language, but it’s going to be an uphill battle.
