Remember that whole Mayan apocalypse thing and how it didn’t happen? Yeah, me too.
While my parents were visiting a few months back, we spent some time up in Galilee. On the way up, we drove past Tel Megiddo. A colleague recommended visiting these ruins, so we debated for a bit whether we should stop in and ultimately decided to skip it. In our discussion, my Dad mentioned that it is supposed to be the Biblical site of Armageddon. On the spot, Jonathan and I decided that we would return on December 21, 2012 — the date of the alleged Mayan Apocalypse and the X-Files Alien Invasion.
Well that date has come and gone. And we’re still here.
Fast Forward/Rewind to 12/21/2012…It’s raining buckets. A friend of ours is coming along for the end of world and admits to being surprised that we didn’t bail on the field trip. Please. There are some things that I would never bail on; end-of-the-world prophecies and aliens are both on that list.
Before we left, Jonathan brushed up on Revelation so that we’d know what we were getting ourselves into.
