Because it was so much fun a last year…
January: Spending New Years in the Golan, hiking Masada, and staying in this most amazing of places in the Negev desert (home of the HBDP) — all during Jenelle’s visit.
Here’s a round-up of a few of my favorites.
On the wall around Graceland, during my birthday trip there in 2011 with Jonathan, Alissa, and Kate. (After this picture was taken, I can clearly remember Kate saying, “Was the hand thing really necessary?” Yes. Always.)
On the grass near the port in Galway, on one bright, sunny Irish morning. (So green.)
In which Tank and I finally visit Qumran and celebrate First Contact Day with a cake shaped like the Starship Enterprise.
Last weekend, I went hiking in Wadi Qelt. A colleague recently got the book Walking Palestine, so a group of us spent the night in Jericho before driving out to St. George’s Monastery in Wadi Qelt and walking back.
I recently had a friend visiting from DC. While she was here, we drove down to the Negev and stayed at the Desert Days Eco-Lodge, which was “sustainable with a capital ‘S'” (according to Lonely Planet). It. was. gorgeous.
We had a fire pit and an indoor fireplace for warmth, which we took full advantage of. After enjoying a fire outside, Jenelle suggested we rock a hiking boots dance party inside.
