Because it was so much fun a last year…
January: Spending New Years in the Golan, hiking Masada, and staying in this most amazing of places in the Negev desert (home of the HBDP) — all during Jenelle’s visit.
I’m just going to come clean right now and admit that I have a Google alert set for Star Trek. I do. It is because of this that I learned that the remains of Gene Roddenberry, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, and Jimmy Doohan will be flown into space at the end of 2014 aboard a flight that will use solar sails.
Pretty cool, right? Yes and no.
As I read the round-up of articles provided to me — there were write-ups from the Mirror, Chicago Tribune, Celebrity Cafe, ComputerWorld, and TV NZ: One News that all played up the Star Trek-iness of this all: science fiction meeting science fact yada yada yada — I started to notice the treatment of Majel in these articles, where in all but one (thank you, ComputerWorld!) she was nothing more than “wife of.”
In which the Mirror of Erised is correct and I celebrate my birthday by going on The Making of Harry Potter tour at Warner Brothers in Leavesdon.
According to Dumbledore, the Mirror of Erised shows you your heart’s deepest and most desperate desire; while I was hugely excited to go on this tour with Jon for my birthday, I’m not sure it qualified as the deepest, most desperate desire of my heart.
I got inspired to take a look back at my year in pictures. 2012 was a crazy year.
January: Jonathan and I traveled to Florida for a friend’s wedding in West Palm Beach. While in-state, we also celebrated his birthday, met up with his parents at Harry Potter World, took a boat tour of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo, visited the Kennedy Space Center, and took a bike tour of Shark Valley in Everglades National Park. We were .thisclose. to alligators.
