January 2015: Visiting New York for a birthday weekend for my boo, filled with surprises – including his parents arriving for brunch, Aladdin on Broadway, and dinner out with a champagne toast from my parents (via technology).
Last weekend was my first visit to the Filene Center at the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts! Alissa and I went to see Singin’ in the Rain — with live music performed by the National Symphony Orchestra. Even though fat clouds loomed all morning, we decided around 2pm to go for it: we bought lawn seats (meaning: uncovered “seats” on the ground).
It started to rain about five minutes later.
Stalling, we went to Whole Foods for wine, olives, and gourmet popcorn and then out to lunch at Cava Mezze Grill (excellent gluten free options!) and, miraculously, it stopped raining! Fast forward to our arrival at Wolf Trap: we staked out our spots on the lawn, poured ourselves glasses of wine, and generally congratulated ourselves on a job well done.
It started to rain about ten minutes later.
